This and that

Well here I am again. It's been two years. I'm still enjoying retirement. Have been on three cruises. Went with Sonya and Gary and the girls and most of the Larnders on a Christmas cruise to GrandCaymen and Cozamul Mexico. totally cool having 5 teenagers with us. Went last November George and I to the Southern Carribean. What an adventure that was. Loved every minute. The Carribean people are so hospitabel. We visited my friend Cheryl's parents and her uncle. That was such a treat. This June we went on another Alaskan cruise. It poured everyday. I don't know whose idea it was to go to Prince Rupert. Very bad idea. You can't even use a cell phone there. Oh well just another adventure. In November 2008 our dear little dog Roxy passed away. I still miss her at times. The last two summers we have taken care of the kid's little dog Ginger for a month. What a cutie. It's been pretty hot lately. There's a water ban so everything looks dry. We had a great Peter's family reunion of abouit 40 of us. That was really nice to get togeether with everyone. this weekend is a women's conference which I'm looking forward to. Now I'm going to go chill out and watch Nancy Grace.Hope you are all enjoying your summer.

This and that

Well here I am after a long absence. The good thing about my blog is that usually nobody reads it so I can express my feelings and not worry. It's been ten months since my retirement. I am really enjoying my life. We have made a road trip throught the prairies last fall which was great. We went to visit my husbands oldest sister in Brandon. We also visited with our nephew and his family and our niece and her son.Last November we had to have a dear little dog Roxie put to sleep. She was fifteen years old and had a heart condition.I'm afraid it still brings tears to my eyes just thinking and talking about her.She was really the best friend anyone could ever ask for. We ended 2008 by going on a western Caribbean cruise with one of our daughters and her husband and our two granddaughters. Also extended family came. That was a memorable Christmas. I have signed up to do voluntary work at a seniors facility. A very big highlight of last year was the marriage of our youngest daughter which is a miracle considering she has been very ill for six years with a rare incurable blood disease. We had a small house wedding on Jan.4th 2008 and a beautiful garden recepion in our back yard in July of the same year. We are still hoping a praying for a cure or at least a medication without so many side effects. The disease is called myeloprolferative disorder. Her particular kind is called PV. It is a genetic mutation of her blood cells.I go to a very wonderful Church. I am blessed with a lot of extended family and also friends. Life has it's ups and downs but I'm trying hard to see the good in everyone I come in contact with. If I should ever win the lotto I would give most of it away because I really don't have any need but there are so many who are needy. My greatesst wish is that we could all live in peace starting within our own family circles. My favorite colour is yellow. I have mentioned it so many times but for some reason my husband whom I love dearly still always buys me red carnations.LOL. Bless his soul,Our house used to be yellow but now is white with green trim. Looks good. But I really wished it was yellow with brown trim again becauseI could go outside and look at it and feel so warm.My favorite place is at the ocean. Any ocean. It makes me feel at peace.I love living in B.C. because the weather is such a nice mix of sun and rain making everything look beautiful and green. I love being a grandmother.I have two sons-in-law whom I don't always understand but love them both very much. And so I shall continue on the journey set before me and with God's help I will arrive safely. Blessings to anyone who stumbles on my blog.

retirement

Just a few random thoughts about being retired. It's been a week and half. so far it's great. I like the fact that I don't have to look at a schedule anymore. At the end of the day I can have a leisurely bubblebath and put on my pjs when I'm done because I don't have to go on night shift anymore. I can go out anytime of the day or evening. No more cooking with limited groceries. No more personal care except personally for myself. No more bite marks. bruises or scratches. I do not have to be a team player anymore. The only other members on my team are my husband and my dog.LOL. I will never have another annual review . I'm 65 and not five years old.LOL. Now when I go out into the community and see a disabled person I will not see them as support worker, rather as a friend. I have left all my stress behind and now I am free free free. My body aches are all gone. The good thing is I can write down my feelings because nobody ever reads my blog. It's like my own personal journal. If you read this I wish you well. I am now going to have a long bubblebath just because I CAN.LOL

I'm back

I've finally decided to write again. We just came back from visiting Sonya and Gary and the girls. Had a great time. Yesterday we celebrated Thanksgiving with baked ham. Yummy. Thanks Gary for remembering to bring us a lovely chocolate bar and strange cola from Slavakia. The bar was good but the cola, let's just say it was interesting. George and I spent two nights in a motel in Kamloops and visited the kids during the day. Sonya and myself and the girls went shopping on Saturday. I think we all bought charms for our bracelets and Cam bought herself ablanket and a matching head band and earing set. Today we dodled home the long way in the rain, listening to George's new Gathier CD which he bought yesterday at Walmart. On our way to Kamloops we actually had some snow coming down. It was very sparce but the trees got a fine dusting which looked so wintery. Thank you Sonya for your hospitality. The pies were scrumptious. Thank you Barb for taking care of the house and doing all the laundry. Much appreciated. It feels good to go away but it also feels good to come home. Of course I will miss the nice little visits with Cam and Paige. I hope Gary is able to finish Mr. Cooper's truck. Well I guess I'll see if I can find something to eat for supper. It was nice not to have to cook for a few days.LOL. I wish every one a happy week. Hope you soon feel better Sonya. Maybe now that fall is coming I will get into the blogging spirit again.Till next time.
